Scope of Services

Undergraduate college counseling is the focus of Petrequin College Consulting, LLC. The majority of clients are high school juniors and seniors seeking help in selecting and applying to colleges. The counseling process normally begins with an initial one-hour meeting attended by both the student and the parents done on FaceTime. Contents of the meeting varies according to the student’s year in high school and the family's questions. After the initial meeting the family decides whether to continue to the college counseling full service program. This program covers the entire college selection and admission process and usually begins in the middle of the junior year of high school.

The full service program consists of unlimited FaceTime meetings, phone calls and e-mails, careful monitoring of the application with special emphasis on the essays, and follows the student until they have accepted a college. It takes the guesswork out of the selection and application process and provides full support to the student and family. As the process continues, rapport develops between the student and Marilyn, making it a pleasant and interesting experience. Parents are asked to attend the presentation of the initial college list, then may either be a part of the meetings or not. Having a college counselor work with the student often helps family relationships in what can become a stressful time.
